In 2009, Dwayne Knapp, aged 21, found himself in Intensive Care at Royal Perth Hospital. He had received horrendous injuries following a car accident. His prognosis was not good & his family & friends were warned that he may not survive. Apart from breaking nearly every part of his body, Dwayne’s car also amputated his right leg. Later that morning they were told that the doctors had to amputate Dwayne’s left leg also in an effort to save his life.
Over the next six weeks, this amazing department at Royal Perth Hospital performed miracles beyond our belief & gave Dwayne back to us.
Intensive Crew is a WA based fundraising team which was formed in 2012 by a group of family & friends of Dwayne as a way of saying “thank you” for giving us Dwayne back.
The purpose of Intensive Crew is to raise funds for & the awareness of Intensive Care Foundation.
At the Intensive Care Foundation, they are dedicated to improving the care of critically ill patients, through funding vital clinical research. Their overall aim is to improve the number of lives saved & the quality of those lives, for those unlucky enough to end up in Intensive Care.
Intensive Crew run various fundraising events throughout the year including raffles, AFL Footy Tipping & an Annual High Tea Fundraising Event. We send out a quarterly newsletter, bringing supporters up to date with what is happening.
If you would like to know more about how you can support Intensive Crew, or perhaps you would like to join the team, we would love to hear from you. We are always looking for new team members to help us promote Intensive Care Foundation around WA.
